The Nursery children have returned to school after the Christmas holidays and jumped straight back into various activities. The children used the interactive whiteboards to practise writing different sounds they have learnt, engaged in sensory play using the sandpit and soft foam, and attempted various Mathematics games to develop and reinforce basic numeracy skills. They were all thrilled to return to Nursery and were ecstatic to see their friends!

To celebrate the end of the autumn term and Christmas, the school organised a French-themed Christmas market, where our school council leaders had the chance to contribute to the organisation of this extravaganza. Children from KS1 and KS2 enjoyed using the target language to purchase Christmas presents and enjoy French patisserie. The event was part of our commitment to a local charity, and we raised around £500.
On Tuesday 19th December, the Nursery children put on a spectacular Christmas performance for their parents, guardians and carers. It was very clear for all to see that they had worked extremely hard and practiced all their songs before finally delivering, what proved to be, an absolutely charming performance. Later, they were delighted to get a surprise visit from Santa, who they were very excited to see!
Helping you live well this winter

On Tuesday 5th December, children in Year 6 proudly performed their final Christmas show at Rosedale Primary School. They performed a variety of songs to their parents, guardians, and carers which was followed by instrumental performances from the children who play a musical instrument. They all sang and played to the very best of their abilities. They were rewarded for all their hard work later in the day as they enjoyed their annual Christmas party!
Friday 24th November, children in Year 1 took part in a Christmas Cupcake Workshop delivered by Michelle Drummond, who is one of our Chair of Governors. The children were excited to make their own reindeer cupcakes using chocolate buttons, pretzels and cherries! They showed great skill and composure as they carefully decorated the cakes and were extremely proud of what
they had achieved.
On Thursday 9th November, Year 4 pupils took part in Pedestrian Training delivered by the STARs team. The children were spilt into small groups and learnt about the different hazards on the roads as well as how to keep themselves safe when walking on the pavements and crossing roads, particularly busy ones. Once they had received their initial training, the children ventured out onto the local roads around the School campus to put into practice all they had learnt. It was an invaluable experience for the Pupils as they witnessed some of the hazards first-hand and felt confident in knowing what they needed to do to keep safe. We hope that by taking part in the Pedestrian Training, this will encourage more pupils to travel to school sustainably (walking, biking, scooting etc.) as they will feel more confident about travelling along our road.
On Tuesday 7th November,15 pupils from Year 5 visited Rosedale College to bake chocolate chip cookies as part of their practical baking activity. It was not long before the children had their ingredients mixed, separated out into equal measures and then placed into the ovens. Pupils were excited and anticipated the revealing of their final products. All children produced some excellent cookies and were thrilled to taste their creations!
